Welcome to The Red Brick Church

The Red Brick Church provides a spiritual community of people in recovery searching for growth, healing and renewal. We welcome all who wish to be part of this thriving, spiritual community. As part of the United Methodist denomination we recall our founder John Wesley's desire to address the problems of life including alcoholism, drug and other addictions that destroy serenity and spirituality not only of the afflicted but also those who are a part of their lives.

Therefore, to honor both the Christian culture of United Methodism, and the recovery culture, be it 12-step or otherwise, The Red Brick Church calls itself "a United Methodist Recovery Center, where people from all walks of life, people with stories, are learning about and living out God's story.

The Red Brick Church is what is called a "new church start". We are starting from scratch out of an existing building that had been sacred ground for the Kenwood community of St. Petersburg and beyond since the mid 1800's. Originally the congregation was called Albright United Methodist, and God was at work in and through His church as she worshipped, grew in grace, ministered to others, built and rebuilt the campus to what it is today. In June 2010, the remnant of Albright moved to join First United Methodist Church in Gulfport where the integrated congregation has emerged a stronger and richer family of God.

But God wasn't finished with the sacred ground at the corner of 5th Avenue and 28th Street. It sat empty for only three months. God had already called for this sacred space to blossom into a new church beginning in September 2010. And not just any church. God (who has a humongous heart for the hurting, the lost, the discouraged, those seeking His face, and for all people in and needing recovery) has paved the way for The Red Brick Church to be a vibrant Spirit-filled Center where there is grace-filled hope, help and healing for anyone in or seeking recovery, and all friends of those who are in recovery.

Our recovery community is safe sanctuary in a non-judgmental climate that promotes spiritual growth for all who enter. Our events, small groups, recovery meetings, Bible/recovery studies, worship gatherings and service opportunities are always "come as you are" and "the coffee is always on". We hope you will visit us and give the Red Brick Church a chance as the adage goes: ". . . for 90 days", and please know: YOU matter to God, and you are NOT alone.
